New Advertiser Registration

CONDITIONS OF ADVERTISING

The Accommodation Provider (referred to as "I or me") agrees to the Conditions of Advertising for the "Off-Campus Housing" database stated below:

  • I will, at all times, act in good faith in dealing with any accommodation seekers and comply with all applicable legislation, particularly the Residential Tenancies Act (Vic) 1997 as amended from time to time.
  • I will give each successful applicant a copy of the Consumer Affairs of Victoria publication titled: "Renting a home – A guide for tenants and landlords"
  • I acknowledge that Monash University may decline to list an advertisement or at any time terminate a listing of an advertisement on the "Off-Campus Housing" database in its absolute discretion without any liability to me.
  • I acknowledge that Monash University does not act as an agent for either me or the accommodation seekers. I acknowledge that "Off-Campus Housing" database is an information exchange service only and Monash University does not:
    • inspect properties for suitability;
    • interview landlords for suitability;
    • interview accommodation seekers for suitability; and
    • negotiate on behalf of parties
  • I will ensure that my advertisement on the "Off-Campus Housing" database does not contain any misleading, deceptive or fraudulent statements.
  • I acknowledge that Monash University will not be liable for any loss of profit or any direct, indirect, consequential loss or damage incurred by me or my client arising out of or in connection with my use of the "Off-Campus Housing" database. Monash University's liability to me or my client (including for negligence and under any implied warranties which cannot be excluded at law) is limited to (at Monash University's election), re-supply of the service supplied or the cost of this re-supply.
  • I agree to indemnify and hold Monash University harmless from any loss, damage or liability arising from the use by me of the "Off-Campus Housing" database.
  • I acknowledge that Monash University reserve the right (at their sole discretion) to reject, edit, vary, condense or expand any advertisement on the "Off-Campus Housing" database.
  • I acknowledge that Monash University does not guarantee continuous and uninterrupted access to our website by accommodation seekers.

PRIVACY STATEMENT

The information you provide to us is collected for the primary purpose of advertising off-campus accommodation to University staff and students. Monash Residential Services will use this information to maintain records in our property database, and to provide relevant housing information to our staff and students. Please note also, that the information listed on the Monash Residential Services’ off campus housing database may be also used to assist students and staff when lodging applications to the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal, reports to the office of Consumer and Business Affairs Victoria and the Residential Tenancies Bond Authority. If you choose not to complete all the information fields on the accommodation form, it may not be possible to assist you to advertise your property. DISCLAIMER

These offers of accommodation are available to current and prospective students, as well as staff of Monash University. The listings contained are similar to classified advertisements in a newspaper. Advertisers and searchers must contact each other directly. Offers are regularly updated, however the accuracy of information is dependant on those offering accommodation to update their advertisements or notify us promptly.

MRS has configured the “Off-Campus Housing” database to automatically remove accommodation offers after two weeks from the posting date. This is to ensure all accommodation offers are current. Advertisers have the right (subject to MRS normal approval process) to re-advertise their accommodation offer once it has expired. Each subsequent re-advertisement will remain active for two weeks only before the "Off-Campus Housing" database automatically deletes the offer. It will be the responsibility of the advertiser to advertise and re-advertise (if necessary) their offer on the “Off-Campus Housing” database. MRS will not re-active expired offers.

MRS receives and advertisers accommodation information in good faith but without any warranty of the accuracy, completeness or currency of the information. All advertisers, searchers and others who provide, access or use the information do so at their own risk.

MRS views offers made online and must approve them before they appear on the Internet. However MRS does not screen the individual, inspect the offer being made or match students with those offering accommodation.

MRS may exercise its sole discretion at any time to refuse, remove, update or alter any accommodation information received from advertisers or other on their behalf. MRS also reserves the right to edit the content for space reasons as well as for conditions that may contravene the Residential Tenancies Act (1997) of Victoria.

MRS reserves the right to decline to accept or delete an accommodation offer at any time without notice to the person offering the accommodation. MRS may also remove an accommodation offer if it deems it inappropriate.

MRS and Monash University shall not be liable to the person offering or accepting accommodation through our service for any loss or damage arising from any such act or omission by us.

I agree to terms set out in the above 'disclaimer' and acknowledge and accept the terms of the Monash University 'privacy statement'.

To be granted access to the Monash Residential Services online housing database, please acknowledge your acceptance of the all conditions as stated above. Please note: If you click on "I Accept" you will be able to advertise your accommodation offer. If you click "I Don’t Accept" you will not be able to advertise your accommodation offer.
